It started life as ‘The Pines', a home in Piesse Street purchased by the Presbyterian Church and, with the orginal house opened in 1955 for elderly residents, was renamed as 'Bethshan', meaning 'home of rest and peace'. Since then, several extensions and careful renovations have taken place to create additional rooms and amenities including activities centre and enhancing the outdoor spaces.
Residents at Bethshan love the home-cooked meals and general ambience.
All accommodation is individual rooms, with fourteen having their own ensuite. Rooms are arranged into four discrete areas with all residents coming to a central dining area for meals and a chance to catch up. Shared lounges, activity areas and spaces for quiet solitude are also available to residents and visitors. There is an ongoing activities program with regular bus outings and church services are held at Bethshan for those wishing to participate.
