St Louis Nursing Home is a family run residential care facility established in 1946 by the Naish family, the third generation of which currently work in the business.

At St Louis we aim to combine the aspects of normal home living with personal care support. A person usually chooses to enter a nursing home when they can no longer be totally independent in their own home and have a need for trained nursing care. This may follow a severe illness or long term difficulty, which has caused a change to their personal lifestyle.

St Louis offers accommodation in single rooms with ensuite facilities, single rooms and double rooms. Double rooms provide excellent accommodation for married couples. The home has a number of indoor and outdoor areas complimented by garden facilities, which are used to meet a variety of personal needs. The courtyard provides an ideal setting for relaxing and meeting with relatives and friends.

The home offers quality care programs with differing focuses of care related to the changing resident needs and provides highly individualised care to the residents.

The philosophy and objectives of the home endeavour to uphold the dignity and respect of the individual, whilst taking into consideration their health and care needs. Prior to admission, a negotiated package of care is undertaken to ensure that the actual care needs of the resident are supported by the resources within the programs. On-going assessment and support is offered so that the type of service given to residents best suits their individual care needs.

Residents of St Louis are encouraged and supported to retain and participate in social programs of their specific interests. A program coordinator is a member of the staff who assists and facilitates resident activities. Many residents are supported to continue to pursue their social interests in local community venues and are encouraged to consider holidays away from the home. Family pets also visit residents - Lulu the cat resides at St Louis.

Residents of St Louis have the supports of a multilingual staff and the following languages are spoken: English, Polish, Italian and Latvian.
